HKBU Recognises Five Distinguished Alumni at The Third Distinguished Alumni Award Presentation Ceremony
HKBU held The Third Distinguished Alumni Award (DAA) Presentation Ceremony at the University's 60th Anniversary Founders’ Day Reception on 17 March to give recognition to five distinguished alumni for their outstanding business, professional or scholastic achievements and remarkable contributions made to the University and society. They are alumni Dr. Dennis Au (Chinese Medicine and Biomedical Science), Mr. Chan Hung (China Studies/Education Studies), Ms. May Chan (Communication), Mr. Ronald Chiu (Communication) and Dr. Liu Chak-wan (English Language and Literature).
During his welcoming remarks, Chairman of the Council and the Court Mr. Cheng Yan-kee expressed his heartfelt thanks to members of Selection Committee who have given great support to the Award. He said that despite the dramatic transformation in the scale and academic advancement of HKBU over the past six decades, the University remains committed to promoting “whole person education” and goes beyond providing its graduates with the qualities that are crucial to Hong Kong’s success in the past and the future. The University would build on the foundations of its success to make the next 60 years productive, successful and uplifting.
President and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Roland Chin said in his vote of thanks that education is student-centric and should focus on learning. He said HKBU nurtures each student as a whole person who contributes to social progress and these characteristics are fully exemplified by the five DAA recipients. He also sent his heartiest congratulations to the Award recipients.
The presentation ceremony started with an attractive video highlighting the success and sharing of the Award recipients. Chairman Cheng and President Chin then jointly presented the award certificates and trophies to the recipients.
