HKBU Recognises Four Distinguished Alumni at Inaugural Distinguished Alumni Award Presentation Ceremony
HKBU held a presentation ceremony during the University Founders’ Day Reception on 28 March 2014 to recognise four distinguished alumni for their outstanding professional accomplishments and immense contributions to our University and the community.
In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Cheng Yan-kee, Chairman of the Council and the Court, gave his heartiest congratulations to the inaugural Award winners, Mr. William Leung (alumnus of English Language and Literature), Mr. Francis Mak (alumnus of Chinese Language and Literature and alumnus of Communication), Ms. Marianna Tsang (alumna of Secretarial Management, and Dr. Daniel Tse (alumnus of Sociology) who exemplify Whole Person Education, and make achievements and success that speak volume to the effectiveness of HKBU’s educational philosophy.
The presentation ceremony was kick-started by a stunning video highlighting the Award background, success and sharing of the Award recipients. After rounds of applause for the awardees by the audience, Mr. Cheng Yan-kee, Chairman of the Council and the Court, and Prof. Albert S.C. Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor, jointly presented the award certificates and trophies to the winners one by one. A picture speaks a thousand words. The ceremony ended with a photo by Mr. Cheng and Prof. Chan together with all award recipients holding a shiny A-shaped trophy which represents the accomplishments and shining models of the distinguished alumni.
In his Vote of Thanks at the Founders’ Day Reception, Prof. Albert Chan expressed his gratitude to Chairman and members of the Selection Committee, all nominees, nominators and supporters for their keen participation and unfailing support to the Award and the University.
