Recent Activities of HKBU Alumni Association of Australia
HKBU Alumni Association of Australia organised a karaoke dinner gathering in Hurstville on 24 June and a reunion dinner gathering in Eastwood on 28 July. Both gatherings were well attended by supportive alumni, their family members and friends.
Participants of the gathering in June, held at Golden Sands Restaurant, included alumni Sidney Cheng (Communication), President of the Association and his spouse, Lawrence Chan (Communication), Vice-President and his spouse, Peggy Chan (Secretarial Management) and her husband Andrew Chan, Henie Chu (Communication/Secretarial Management), Richard Lam (Communication) and his spouse Mabel Lam, Prof Edward Fung and his spouse, and their friends and families. The alumni group also warmly welcomed alumni Leung Ting-chun (Civil Engineering) and his spouse Chan Bun-yee (Civil Engineering) for joining the Association’s gathering for the first time since the pandemic outbreak.
Participants of the gathering held at Noble House Seafood Restaurant in July included alumni Sidney Cheng, Lawrence Chan and his spouse, Prof Yip Kam-shing (Social Work) and his spouse, Peggy Chan and her husband Andrew Chan, Eddie Chu (Communication) and his spouse Henie Chu, Richard Lam and his spouse Mabel Lam, Bosco Lau and his son. The Association also extended a warm welcome to alumnus Hui Chun-keung (Corporate Governance and Directorship) and his spouse, who joined the gathering for the first time.
Alumni and retired/former academic and administrative staff of the University residing in Australia are welcome to join the Association and participate in the gatherings. HKBU Alumni Association of the Greater Bay Area Holds Unveiling Ceremony of its Hong Kong Headquarters
With the coordination and support of alumnus Justin Liu (Sports & Leisure Management), Vice-President of GBAAA and CEO of Tomorrow Leader Education & Technology Group (the Group), the HKBU Alumni Association of the Greater Bay Area (GBAAA) set up its Hong Kong headquarters at the Group’s office in Kwun Tong. The unveiling ceremony of the headquarters on 10 August was attended by alumni Wong Nga-chung (Business Management), Tyrone Siu (History), President of HKBU Alumni Association; Alex Leung (Business Management), Immediate Past President of HKBU Alumni Association and Professor Bernard Wu (Accounting), Chairman of HKBU School of Business Alumni Association. Section representatives of the GBAAA and presidents of other HKBU alumni associations also sent their congratulations via pre-recorded videos. Alumnus Dr Vincent Ho (Communication), Founding President of GBAAA, expressed his deep gratitude at the ceremony to all alumni who have given their support and blessings to the Association. The ceremony was broadcast live through WeChat.
HKBU School of Business Alumni Association Organises Alumni Leadership Sharing Session
On 6 August, HKBU School of Business Alumni Association (SBAA) organised the Alumni Leadership Sharing Session, and attracted around 30 alumni and students who attended the event either in person or online. Alumnus Stephen Lo (Accounting), Chief Financial Officer of Prenetics, was invited to share his work experience and insights into the future of biotechnology, particularly regarding topics on diagnostic and genetics testing. He also talked on the challenge of getting listed on Nasdaq, as well as tips for career development in the accounting and investment banking industries. Alumnus Daniel Wu (Business Administration), Executive Committee Member of SBAA, served as moderator of the sharing session.
