This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Riding on this celebratory occasion, the Faculty has established the “Student Development Endowment Fund (SDEF)”, with the aim of providing financial support to students of the Faculty of Social Sciences in areas of outstanding academic achievements, overseas exchange/attachment, experiential learning activities, and keen financial needs during their studies at the University.
To support this meaningful project, the Alumni Affairs Office and the Faculty of Social Sciences have joined hands in producing a video to introduce the SDEF. In the video, alumnus Professor Justin Chiu Kwok-hung, Honorary Advisor of SDEF, and Professor Chung Pak-kwong, Associate Dean (Development) of the Faculty, both shared their views with Faculty students Yuen Ka-mei and Shirley Hui Ka-yan on how the SDEF could provide timely and meaningful support for students, while at the same time bring far-reaching impact on their personal development.
In response to the slogan of 50th Anniversary of the Faculty of Social Sciences: “We dare to care!”, the six Founding Alumni Supporters of SDEF, namely Dr Eddie Ho Kang-wai, Angel Hon Suk-yee, Patrick Siu Chiu-shun, Tyrone Siu Tai-lun, Esther Wong May-wai and Stephen Yau How-boa all showed their support for the SDEF by appearing in the video to appeal for the support of alumni.
