School of Chinese Medicine Spring Reception: Alumni Unite to Celebrate the Chinese New Year

The officiating guests, University management, representatives from the Chinese medicine hospital, and the School’s management give a toast.
The School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) hosted a Spring Reception on HKBU campus on 16 February. The event attracted over 250 guests, including government officials, management from Chinese medicine hospital, industry leaders, University management, staff, students and alumni.
Dr the Hon Kennedy Wong Ying-ho, Chairman of the Council and the Court, emphasised the University’s core mission of nurturing talent. He called on Chinese medicine alumni and industry partners to join hands in advancing the University’s development. Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor, shared the latest developments of the University and the vision behind the new medical school proposal.
Alumnus Dr Vincent Chung Chi-ho (Chinese Medicine), Commissioner for Chinese Medicine Development of the Health Bureau of the HKSAR Government, affirmed the School’s outstanding contributions. He highlighted the importance of industry consensus and joint efforts for the development of Chinese medicine.
Also, Mr Huen Wong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the HKBU Chinese Medicine Hospital Company Limited, remarked that the highly anticipated The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong will officially commence this year. As the first flagship Chinese medicine hospital in the territory, it will fully align with the Government’s policy to promote the advancement of Chinese medicine and provide quality medical services to the public.
Speaking at the occasion, Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice President (Research and Development) cum Dean of Graduate School and Acting Dean of Chinese Medicine, shared his optimism about the School’s future and expressed that the School will elevate research translation and talent cultivation to new heights.
All participants had a great opportunity to engage with one another to celebrate the traditional festive season while enjoying the captivating lion dance performance.
