Alumni Affairs Office Connects with President of HKBU Alumni Association of Ontario Alumna Sophia Chan

Alumna Sophia Chan Wai-hung (Secretarial Management), President of HKBU Alumni Association of Ontario, recently returned to Hong Kong and paid a visit to HKBU on 15 February. Dr Melanie Lee, Director of Alumni Affairs, warmly received alumna Chan and made arrangement for her to meet with alumnus Professor Ken Yung, Professor of the Department of Biology, Ma Pak Leung Endowed Professor in Innovative Neuromedicine and Executive Associate Dean of the Graduate School, and reminisced their college days.

During the meetup, alumna Chan took the opportunity to share with Dr Lee the latest developments of the Association while Dr Lee also shared with alumna Chan the recent happenings of HKBU. They also discussed how the Association could help connect alumni who had recently immigrated to Canada.

Alumni Affairs Office Welcomes Alumnus Dave Tai for Joining a Video Shooting on Campus

Invited by the Alumni Affairs Office, alumnus Dave Tai (UIC-Applied Psychology), Cofounder of BEEPLUS Technology, paid a visit to HKBU campus on 19 January to partake in the shooting of the “GBA Alumni • Elite+” Alumni Sharing Video Series. Dr Melanie Lee, Director of Alumni Affairs, warmly welcomed alumnus Tai and sent her heartfelt appreciation for his kind support in the sharing video.

Alumna Dr Marianna Tsang Receives Numerous Accolades

Alumna Dr Marianna Tsang

Alumna Dr Marianna Tsang (Secretarial Management), HKBU Distinguished Alumni Award recipient and Founder & Managing Director of TWC Management Limited, received a number of awards and appointment recently.

Alumna Dr Tsang was awarded “Outstanding Hong Kong People 2022”, which was co-organised by Outstanding Chinese Culture Association, Hong Kong Commerce and Industry Associations and Greater Bay Area Times, in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the Motherland. In recognition of her significant contributions to society, alumna Dr Tsang received the award at the award ceremony held on 13 December 2022.

In addition, she was appointed by Yau Tsim Mong District Office as a member of the Yau Tsim Mong Multicultural Activity Centre Advisory Committee with effect from 8 December 2022.  

Moreover, she was conferred Honorary Professorship by the International American University on 10 January.

Alumna Esther Wong Set ups an Endowment Fund to Support a Scholarship for Social Work Students

Alumna Esther Wong (Geography; Social Work), Director of Gather Wealth Realty Group Company Limited, set up an endowment fund for supporting the “Dr Yeung Wing On and Ms Esther Wong May Wai Scholarship”. Scholarships will be awarded to eligible students from the Department of Social Work.

Over the years, alumna Wong has been dedicated to supporting the development of HKBU and the Department of Social Work as well as nurturing students through setting up various scholarships.
