HKBU Alumni Association Organises a Dinner in Celebration of President Emeritus Dr Daniel Tse’s 90th Birthday cum HKBUAA’s 63rd Anniversary

HKBU Alumni Association (HKBUAA) held a dinner in celebration of President Emeritus Dr Daniel Tse’s 90th Birthday cum HKBUAA’s 63rd Anniversary at Maxim’s Palace of City Hall, Central on 7 November. The dinner gathered over 450 guests, including Dr Moses Cheng Mo-chi, former Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU and member of the Executive Council of the HKSAR Government; Dr Cheng Yan-kee, former Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU; former Treasurers of the Council and the Court of HKBU Professor William Leung and Ms Rosanna Choi; two President Emeritus, namely Professor Albert Chan and Professor Roland Chin; senior management of HKBU including Dr Clement Chen, Chairman of the Council and the Court; Mr Paul Poon, Deputy Chairman of the Council and the Court; Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning); Ms Christine Chow, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary; Prof Bian Zhaoxiang, Associate Vice-President (Clinical Chinese Medicine); Professor Cheng Yuk-shing, Interim Dean, School of Business; Professor Ronald Chung, Dean, School of Continuing Education; Professor Michael Ng, Dean, Faculty of Science; Professor Henry Fock, Director of Student Affairs and Dr Melanie Lee, Director of Alumni Affairs. The dinner was also well attended by HKBU Honorary Doctorates, Honorary University Fellows, community leaders and representatives of various alumni associations.

On behalf of the University, Dr Clement Chen delivered a speech to extend birthday wishes to Dr Daniel Tse, commemorating his substantial contributions in propelling the development of HKBU. Additionally, Dr Chen sent heartfelt congratulations to HKBUAA for its 63rd Anniversary, recognising HKBUAA’s dedication and efforts in uniting alumni. Alumnus Dr Jacinto Tong (Chemistry), President of HKBUAA, expressed his gratitude in a vote of thanks, acknowledging the continuous support from alma mater and the University community. Dr Clement Chen and Mr Paul Poon also presented a souvenir to Dr Daniel Tse and HKBUAA respectively, followed by a series of photo taking to commemorate the occasion.

HKBU Alumni Association Holds Jointly with HKBU School of Business an Alumni Forum cum 2024-2025 Event Launch Dinner

HKBU Alumni Association (HKBUAA) held jointly with HKBU School of Business an Alumni Forum cum 2024-2025 Event Launch Dinner at JW Marriott Hotel Shenzhen on 19 October, with over 400 alumni participating in the event.

Professor Alex Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor, and Ms Christine Chow, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary, attended the event. In his speech, President Alex Wai shared with alumni the latest developments and research achievements of HKBU in Chinese medicine, arts and technology, humanities and culture, and sports. Ms Christine Chow also took the opportunity to introduce the University’s latest developments and emphasised the importance of expanding the alumni network.

Dr Monique Wan, the Associate Dean (Taught Postgraduate Studies) of the School of Business, also delivered a talk on the power of AI in social innovation. Other notable speakers included Mr Zhang Jianming, General Manager of the Shenzhen Red Bull; Mr Li Guoxiong, Chairman of the Luban Corporation, and alumnus Dr Jacinto Tong (Chemistry), President of HKBUAA. Dr Tong shared the commitment of HKBUAA to host a series of events across the Greater China region to foster stronger connections among alumni.
