HKBU Century Club Organises Essay Competition for The Analects for Us All
Presented by HKBU Century Club and produced by Art Concept Culture Institute, The Analects for Us All was broadcasted in 2015 in the hope of inspiring audiences on philosophy of life and bringing positive energy to society. The programme was also published into a book by Chung Hwa Book in 2020. As the pandemic receded, activities in relation to The Analects for Us All had resumed this year onwards.
The first activity since the resumption had taken place was the Essay Competition for The Analects for Us All co-organised by HKBU Century Club, China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development and Art Concept Culture Institute. The activity was supported by the Education Bureau and Dr Daniel Tse, HKBU President Emeritus, served as the Honorary Advisor. The launching ceremony of the Competition took place on 24 November in the Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology of HKBU, graced by the presence of Mr Jeff Sze, Under Secretary for Education; Professor Ng Ching-fai, HKBU President Emeritus; Professor Frank Fu, Emeritus Professor; Professor Martin Wong, Provost; Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) and Acting Dean of Arts; Professor Chen Zhi, Director of Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology; Dr Tong Yan-kai, Director of The Confucian Academy; Professor Agnes Chan, Cultural Ambassador of the Competition; alumna Katie Chan (Communication), President of Art Concept Culture Institute; alumnus Wong Nga-chung (Business Management), Patron of HKBU Century Club; alumna Dr Marianna Tsang (Secretarial Management), Patron and President of HKBU Century Club; alumnus Dr Eddie Ho (Sociology), former President and Ex-officio Member of HKBU Century Club; alumnus Kent Tsui (Communication), Past President/Ex-officio Director of HKBU Century Club; alumnus Ip Ka-po (Communication), Vice-President of HKBU Century Club; alumnus Chan Chek-biu (Communication); Dr Melanie Lee, Director of Alumni Affairs; and a number of secondary school principals.
The prize-giving ceremony of the Competition would take place next year in Beijing, and on top of receiving cash awards, winners would be invited to Beijing to receive the certificate of merit, visit historic sites, and national cultural centres.
