HKBU Recognises Four Distinguished Alumni at The Sixth Distinguished Alumni Award Presentation Ceremony

On 8 March, The Sixth Distinguished Alumni Award (DAA) Presentation Ceremony was held at the University’s 63rd Founders’ Day Reception to recognise four distinguished alumni for their business, professional or scholastic achievements and immense contributions to the University and society. The four distinguished alumni are Ms. Amy Cheung (Communication), Mr. Felix Chong (Communication - Film/Video), Prof. Iu Vai-pan (Civil Engineering) and Dr. Cartier Lam (Geography).

In the vote of thanks, President Prof. Roland Chin expressed that it is meaningful to celebrate the achievement of our distinguished alumni on the Founders’ Day where our founding fathers and their founding spirit are remembered. He also cited the unique success made by the four Award recipients.

At the Presentation Ceremony, impressive videos highlighting the achievements of this year’s recipients were shown. Each awardee was presented the trophy by Chairman of the Council and the Court Dr. Clement Chen and President Chin. They also gave a short sharing on stage and expressed their gratitude towards the University.

The Distinguished Alumni Award is an important annual event of the University, with its success counting on the efforts and the unfailing support of the alumni and University community . The University is also grateful to the Chairman of the Selection Committee Mr. Cheng Yan-kee and members Ms. Quince Chong, Mr. Lester Huang and Ms. Viola Man for their valuable comments and efforts made during the selection process.

Selection Committee Members of The Sixth Distinguished Alumni Award Meet with Award Recipients at a Luncheon

A luncheon was held on 18 February at HKBU Lounge for the Selection Committee Members of The Sixth Distinguished Alumni Award (DAA) to meet with the Award recipients.

Hosted by Chairman of the Council and the Court Dr. Clement Chen, the luncheon was attended by members of the Selection Committee President Prof. Roland Chin, Chief Corporate Development Officer of CLP Power Hong Kong Limited Ms. Quince Chong, Co-Chairman of P.C. Woo & Co. Mr. Lester Huang, Executive Director of PuraPharm Corporation Limited Ms. Viola Man, Secretary of the Committee, Associate Vice-President (Engagement) Mr. C.K. Yeung, Executive Secretary of the Committee, Director of Alumni Affairs Dr. Melanie Lee, and four Award recipients alumni Amy Cheung (Communication), Felix Chong (Communication – Film/Video), Prof. Iu Vai-pan (Civil Engineering) and Dr. Cartier Lam (Geography).

Chairman Chen and President Chin sent their heartfelt congratulations to the Award recipients at the luncheon. Four Award recipients also exchanged views on diverse topics relating to the development of their respective sectors.
